About Ashley

After growing up surrounded by family members in poor health, I decided that when I grew up, I wanted to be healthy. That decision led me to complete a Specialized Honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. Not only do I want to be healthy myself, I want to help others do the same.

I believe that moving should be fun, (not a chore) and needs to be done daily. I understand that active living and healthy lifestyle choices extend beyond working out at the gym.

Since graduating university, I have worked in various gym settings including commercial fitness, private fitness and a boutique personal training studio. I am a part time exercise leader for Wellspring Cancer Centre and am a student at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.

My goal is to coach you towards improved health. I will listen, teach, educate and provide motivation. I work hard to help you feel better and reach your health and performance goals through a balanced holistic approach to wellness.

How is Ashley Different?

Practice VS Protocol

I teach you how to practice making healthy lifestyle choices. A practice is ongoing and has room to make mistakes, learn and grow. A protocol has a distinct beginning, end and makes you follow restrictive rules.

Learning to practice a healthy lifestyle lasts for lifetime where as protocols work for short-term success only.

Long-term Results VS Short-term Results

I am interested in achieving long-lasting results – not the kind of results you get when you go on a crash diet for an impressive before and after photo. I take the whole of your being into consideration and want you to be healthy from the inside out.

Appearances can be deceiving. Don’t be fooled, there are many “fit sick” people out there.

Coach VS Dictator

As a coach, my job is to understand what your definition of a healthy you is, help guide you there and then give you the tools to stay there to sustain it on your own. I will help you to understand what health risks are and what changes may be of most benefit to you as an individual.

How many trainers have you heard of that will give you a rigid, unrealistic plan that they expect you to stick to and then put the blame on you when you can’t follow it or don’t get the results they were expecting?

Be weary of those that impress upon their own views and definition of what it means to be healthy on to you – what is healthy for one may not be healthy for another.

Empowerment VS Obedience

My goal is to encourage and help you to gain the skills and knowledge that you need to sustain lifestyle changes and overcome obstacles when faced with them.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go. — Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
